In one session.
At 96% RTP, RM250.00 wagered costs RM10.00 on average. One session can end far above or below that: RTP describes the long run, not tonight.
The figures shown are an example: 96% RTP, RM0.50 a spin, 500 spins in one hour.
What RTP means — and what it does not
RTP is an average over millions of spins across all players. It does not mean that a player gets 96% of a deposit back, and it does not change the odds of any single spin. In one session, volatility — how widely results swing — matters far more: a high-volatility slot can lose for long stretches and pay rarely but large, while a low-volatility slot pays smaller amounts more often.
The cost grows with the amount wagered, not with the deposit. RM50 deposited and replayed at RM0.50 a spin can become RM250 or more wagered in an hour, so the house edge applies to every Ringgit cycled through the game.
RTP and house edge in Ringgit
| RTP | House edge | Average cost per RM100 wagered | Per RM1,000 wagered |
|---|---|---|---|
| 94% | 6% | RM6.00 | RM60.00 |
| 95% | 5% | RM5.00 | RM50.00 |
| 96% | 4% | RM4.00 | RM40.00 |
| 97% | 3% | RM3.00 | RM30.00 |
| 98% | 2% | RM2.00 | RM20.00 |
A higher RTP means a lower average cost, not a better chance of winning tonight.
Typical house edge for table games
| Game and bet | House edge | Average cost per RM100 wagered |
|---|---|---|
| Baccarat, Banker bet (8 decks, 5% commission) | 1.06% | RM1.06 |
| Baccarat, Player bet (8 decks) | 1.24% | RM1.24 |
| Baccarat, Tie paying 8 to 1 | 14.36% | RM14.36 |
| European roulette (single zero), standard bets | 2.70% | RM2.70 |
| Blackjack with basic strategy (4–8 decks, dealer stands on soft 17) | about 0.5% | about RM0.50 |
These are the standard figures for the rules shown; a table with different rules, such as blackjack paying 6 to 5, has a different edge. In the calculator, a 1.06% house edge is an RTP of 98.94%. How the game works: the baccarat guide and the blackjack strategy chart and trainer.
Common questions about RTP
What does 96% RTP mean?
Over a very large number of plays, a 96% RTP game pays back an average of RM96 for every RM100 wagered and keeps RM4. It does not mean a player gets 96% back in any one session.
Is a higher RTP better?
A higher RTP means a lower average cost per Ringgit wagered: 97% costs RM3 per RM100 on average, 94% costs RM6. It does not make a win more likely in a single session, where volatility matters more.
Where do I find a game’s RTP?
In the game’s rules or information panel. Some studios supply the same game at more than one RTP setting, so read the figure inside the game rather than on a review site.
What is the house edge?
The house edge is 100% minus the RTP: the average share of each wager that the game keeps. A 96% RTP slot has a 4% house edge.
Why is the average cost higher than I expected?
Because the house edge applies to every wager, not to the deposit. Replaying the same RM50 at RM0.50 a spin for an hour can mean RM250 wagered, and 4% of RM250 is RM10.
Before you play
Read the RTP in the game’s information panel, decide the bet and how long you will play, and check the average cost here first. Set a limit for the session — the gambling budget calculator helps — and stop when it is reached.
